Evolo Competition Tijuana Skyscraper
Public Landmark for a Future Culture
This project proposes a monumental public skyscraper at the Tijuana–San Diego border, conceived as a vertical extension of the city and a new cultural engine for a fragmented urban region. The structure serves as a civic anchor: a hybrid tower hosting housing, offices, commercial areas, investigation centers, cultural spaces, and large public programs such as a convention center, museum, and culinary park.
Designed as both symbol and infrastructure, the tower integrates an air-cleaning ionic system positioned above the densified vehicle border crossing, where pollution concentrates and where the north winds carry additional contaminants from San Diego’s industrial zone.
More than a building, it is envisioned as a social catalyst—an architecture that embraces Tijuana’s chaotic, spontaneous cultural dynamics and channels them into a new public realm capable of supporting a plural, evolving future.
