Infraestructura Simbiótica – Arroyo Alamar
Arroyo Alamar carries the waste of informal settlements—raw sewage that moves downstream, into the Tijuana Estuary, and eventually into the Pacific. What appears as contamination is, in truth, a symptom of the city’s broken relationship with its environment.
Symbiotic Infrastructure proposes a network of biodigester filters along the river’s course. These devices host microbial communities that digest organic waste, producing cleaner water and usable biogas. Rather than dominating the landscape, they collaborate with it—transforming pollution into process, decay into renewal.
